Write a paragraph on the festival of Diwali, the festival of lights - (200 words)


"Diwali" or "Deepavali" is a celebration of joy throughout India. It is also known as the 'festival of lights' as the city is illuminated with the light of fireworks everywhere. Everyone is excited during this festival. Diwali is celebrated to mark the victory of good over evil. In different regions the reason of celebrating Diwali is different. In Hinduism, it is the time when Lord Rama arrived home after his 14 years' of forest-dwelling. People decorated their houses and went to greet him. People buy and wear new clothes. They decorate their houses and have delicacies. Sweets are distributed. The sky is lit up with the colourful light of fireworks and joy and celebrations are 'on' everywhere. We burst fireworks and enjoy Diwali or the 'festival of lights'! According to me, another sobriquet of the term Diwali is 'the festival of joy and celebration'!
